Which one you need
Check your inbox first. If you have a demat account, a statement probably arrives every month already. Search your email for “CAS”.
| If this is you | Ask |
|---|---|
| You hold a demat account whose ID is 16 digits, all numbers. | CDSL |
| You hold a demat account whose ID starts with “IN”. | NSDL |
| You hold mutual funds outside a demat account and have no demat statement. | CAMS |
| Your fund house says KFintech is its registrar, or the CAMS request didn’t reach you. | KFintech |
A depository statement from CDSL or NSDL already includes your mutual funds, so you need only one. If you hold funds and no demat account, ask CAMS.
From CDSL
Every demat holding across both depositories, plus the mutual-fund folios registered to your PAN.
- Check your inbox first: CDSL emails a CAS every month in which anything moved, and every six months otherwise. Search for “CDSL CAS”.
- For one on demand, open the CAS tab on cdslindia.com.
- Enter your PAN, your 16-digit demat account number and your date of birth.
- Type the one-time password sent to your registered mobile and email, choose the statement period, and download the PDF.
- PDF password
- The first or sole holder’s PAN, in capital letters.
- Arrives
- Downloads straight away.
From NSDL
Every demat holding across both depositories, plus the mutual-fund folios registered to your PAN.
- Check your inbox first: NSDL emails the e-CAS every month in which anything moved. Search for “NSDL e-CAS”.
- For one on demand, open nsdlcas.nsdl.com and choose the option to request a statement.
- Enter your PAN and the details it asks for, then the one-time password sent to your registered mobile or email.
- The PDF arrives at your registered email address.
- PDF password
- The first or sole holder’s PAN, in capital letters. If that fails, the covering email names the format.
- Arrives
- By email, usually within minutes.
From CAMS
Every mutual-fund folio serviced by CAMS and KFintech, which between them cover almost every fund house in India.
- Open camsonline.com, go to Statements, and choose the consolidated statement that covers CAMS and KFintech.
- Pick Summary or Detailed. FinCharya needs only the holdings, so Summary is enough; Detailed works too.
- Enter the email address registered with your funds and your PAN.
- Choose a password for the PDF, confirm it, and submit.
- PDF password
- The one you chose on the request form. Write it down before you submit.
- Arrives
- By email, from a few minutes to a few hours.
From KFintech
Every mutual-fund folio serviced by KFintech, and on its consolidated option CAMS funds too.
- Open mfs.kfintech.com and find the consolidated account statement request.
- Enter your PAN or CAN and the email address registered with your funds.
- Pick the statement type and period.
- Choose a password for the PDF and submit.
- PDF password
- The one you chose on the request form.
- Arrives
- By email, usually within minutes.
Bringing it into FinCharya
- Sign in, choose Import your portfolio, and drop the PDF on the page.
- Enter the PDF’s password when asked. The statement is opened and read in your browser. The file and its password never leave your device.
- Check the preview and import. Only the holdings you approve are saved to your ledger.
A CAS states what each holding is worth, not what you paid. Your gain starts at zero until you import a tradebook or add the cost yourself.
If something goes wrong
The password doesn’t work.
For CDSL and NSDL it is your PAN in capitals. Type it rather than paste it, so no trailing space comes along. For CAMS and KFintech it is the password you set when you asked for the statement; if it’s lost, request a new one.
FinCharya says it found no holdings.
Check it is the consolidated statement and not a single fund’s account statement or a demat transaction statement. Every holding on a CAS carries an ISIN, which is what FinCharya reads.
Some funds are missing.
A folio registered to a different email or mobile, or to a joint holder’s PAN, appears on that person’s statement instead. Import theirs as a separate family member.
My SGBs or government bonds didn’t come in.
FinCharya counts them and shows their value at import, but adds them through the bond import so their coupons and maturity are tracked properly.
